Alabama endured another hard fought game that once again came down to the wire, but this week the outcome was different. The Crimson Tide was unable to capitalize on Georgia mistakes, and made miscues of its own, allowing the Bulldogs to sneak away with a 26-23 overtime victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Alabama struggled early on, allowing Georgia to jump out to a 10 - 0 lead to start the game. Georgia's first score came in the first quarter when Stafford hit running back Thomas Brown on a screen pass for a 10 yard TD. The dogs would add a field goal in the 2nd quarter before Bama went on the move. Tiffin put Bama on the board late in the 2nd quarter to close the gap to 7 points heading into the locker room.

After Jonathon Lowe dropped the opening kickoff in the 2nd half, Bama's defense tightened and did not allow the Bulldogs to come away with points as a result of the turnover. The Tide defense then intercepted a Stafford pass in Georgia territory, and the offense showed signs of life when Wilson capped a 37-yard drive with a QB sneak to knot the game up at 10 a piece. Georgia would answer though, as Knowshon Moreno ran in from 6 yards out to give the Bulldogs a 17 - 10 heading into the 4th quarter.

For the second week in a row, Alabama was able to engineer a comeback in the 4th quarter. The Crimson Tide defense held Georgia to a field goal in the final period, and the offense put together two long drives. After a Tiffin field goal, John Parker Wilson finished off a 10 play, 88-yard drive with a game tying touchdown run with just over a minute remaining. On Georgia's ensuing possession, the Bulldogs drove down the field with a 7-play, 36-yard drive of their own, setting up what would have been the game winning field goal, but Georgia kicker Brandon Coutu pulled the kick wide left sending the game to overtime. Georgia would win the toss, and elected to play defense first. The Bulldog defense held the Tide to a field goal. On Georgia's first possession in OT, Stafford connected with Mikey Henderson for a 25-yard touchdown pass to end the game.

A bright spot for the Tide in the game was kicker Leigh Tiffin, who was perfect on the night, and connected on field goals from 22, 40, and 42, respectively. Alabama falls to 3 -1 on the year, and will face Florida State in a non-conference battle in Jacksonville, FL next Saturday. Click Here to go to Game Discussion
