It is hard to play QB when you are constantly running for your life. JPW was doing that all last season. I think his protection will be vastly improved this season.
_________________
<img src='http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/Rgene.png' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/Rgene.png','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size. I think he will be able to contend for the starting job....Hey who knows who we will sign in this incoming class for 2009 season. The way it's going....we might get a top three quarterback if Saban keeps at it....RTR.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Darrah make a push. Competition is a good thing. Remember, we have AJ McCarron committed...he's the #6 QB in the nation right now, but he's going to be participating in the Elite 11 in California soon, so he could move up. Ideally, I think Star gets some snaps this year and some experience, and he takes the reigns next season. AJ comes in and redshirts to save some eligibility next year, and then when Star is gone, we've got AJ as the starter for 2 years. The QB position is looking good to me for the future....
_________________
<img src='http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/1standgoal2.gif' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/1standgoal2.gif','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size.

Quote:

This offseason, Alabama fans have had little to celebrate outside of recruiting. Still, if it continues at this pace, Nick Saban's recruiting efforts may be all Alabama fans need. On Thursday, the Tide received yet another star commitment for the 2009 class.

With The Barn plucking commits away from powerhouses like Toledo, Ball State and The Lady Vols, Alabama has seen the recruiting tables turned. Which makes the commitment of 5'9" DB/RB Antonio Montana that much more important.

It was widely thought that Montana, a fiery yet controversial figure, would stay home and play for the Hurricanes. But the 4-star DB shocked everyone and chose Alabama, seemingly out of nowhere. Literally as soon as the news came across the wire that 3rd-string running back/back-up linebacker/cocaine kingpin Jimmy Johns had been taken off the scene, Montana picked up the phone and told Tide coaches he was ready to come to Tuscaloosa.

Well the good news for Tide fans is, the good news didn't take long. Montana's commitment comes at a perfect time for Tide fans wishing to shrug off the recent scandalous events.

Gump4Heisman was recently able to arrange for Alabama legend and color broadcaster Kenny Stabler - himself no stranger to controversy - to sit down with Montana and talk business..

That's going to be our goal with the football program.

The #2 quarterback really wont matter....JPW will be on the field as long as he is breathing. Fanuzzi and McElroy dont have what it take to be a starter in the SEC IMO. That's just me. I really like the walk on out of Georgia #16 I think, Thomas Darrah. He had really good arm strength and great footwork in the A-day game. Star Jackson should redshirt and get to work on academics and working on learning the offensive system. He will be ready to compete for the #1 spot with Darrah next season.

While I agree that Fanuzzi and McElroy won't be SEC starters, I have to disagree about Darrah. He's got a great arm, and he looked pretty good in the A-Day game, but he's been around the team a while, and there's a reason he's a walk-on and not on scholarship. Star should be ready to play immediately, because next year, he's going to be the man. The darkhorse for me is Fannuzi -- who I think is actually better than McElroy and Darrah in overall ability, but I still think Star locks down the job if he gets a good gras of the offense this season. I'm almost positive he won't redshirt.
_________________
<img src='http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/1standgoal2.gif' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/1standgoal2.gif','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size. I love Terry Grant because he is a great player but last night later in the season he just got banged up alot, that wont happen this year he will have a great He could emerge as a top runningback sometime you never know, I also look for great things in Ivan Matchett and Mark Ingram because they both have alot of power and speed to come in to. One word for the runningbacks this year: CLUTCH

Talking about Fanuzzi... I really like him also, just haven't seen him play in a game... Hard to judge him without seeing him in a college game... Greg McElroy did great when he played last year, then we never saw him again.... Some things behind the scenes we never hear about that keep kids off the field I guesse....
_________________
<img src='http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/Redspinn.gif' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/Redspinn.gif','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size. I like Upchurch alot and when he goes in just expect to see him take over, but for some reason he just doesn't.... Maybe this year he will finall come into his own and be the McFadden type back we all hoped he would be... I think he got so strong and muscular , that his slowed him down... His biceps are enormous....
_________________
<img src='http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/Redspinn.gif' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/Redspinn.gif','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size.
by SMQ on Jul 2, 2008 9:35 AM EDT

TUSCALOOSA –– Two children were injured Tuesday, one seriously, as Alabama tackle Andre Smith emerged from hibernation to begin his annual summer forage for food. In a separate incident later in the evening, a man was seriously burned when his recreational vehicle overturned and caught fire after being caught between the lineman and Johnny's Pub and Grub on Fourth Street.

The first accident occured when an eight-year-old girl and her five-year-old brother wandered near the edge of the woods behind their family's house, where the 330-pound junior had likely been lying for months in a seasonal state of inactivity and metabolic depression characterized by lower body temperature, slower breathing, and lower metabolic rate. Both were taken by ambulance to DCH Regional Medical Center.
<img src='http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii202/beachfinder/andre-smith.jpg' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii202/beachfinder/andre-smith.jpg','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen." title="Posted image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen." />
Sometimes unaware of his own surroundings when food is near, Smith has been known to injure even members of his own pack.
What To Do If You Encounter Andre Smith in the Wilderness
Whenever you travel in Crimson Tide country, you have to accept the basic reality that you may encounter a 330-pound lineman. If you are in open country, use binoculars to scan the horizon. In more forested environments, be sure to make lots of noise and keep a mental inventory of climbable trees (just in case). Remember, Andre Smith is surprisingly agile, and has also been known to climb short distances up trees. To be safe, you should look for trees that will allow you to get at least 10 m (33 ft) above the ground. Don't forget that Smith can charge up to 40 yards in 5.28 seconds, much faster than the average human. You'll need some time to climb that tree.
- - -

- - -According to the children's 31-year-old mother, who watched with horror from the back window of the house as Smith's gargantuan shadow fell over her helpless explorers, the girl was trampled and the boy thrown at least ten feet as the lineman charged toward the still-raw ground chuck just tossed onto the family's grill. Upon reaching the meat, she said, Smith burned one of his paws on the grill's scalding metal surface, let out a loud bellow, and lumbered away toward the road to the east.

"We're always taught to reach for our old can of Gene Stallings Lineman Spray," said the woman, who asked not to be identified by name but said she had watched her father ward off a similar attack by John Copeland in 1992 with the distinct blend of capsaicin and thousand island salad dressing. "But he was so big and so determined after the kids disturbed his den, he would have only mauled me, too.

"Once he caught the scent of that meat, nothing could have stopped him."

Less than two hours later, another man suffered serious burns on his upper body when he collided with Smith outside of the popular wings 'n things restaurant just west of the University of Alabama campus, instantly crushing the front end of his Honda ATV and consuming both vehicle and driver in a spectacular wave of flames as the undeterred tackle growled loudly and continued inside, according to witnesses. Police reported the ATV burned to the chassis, creating a large plume of smoke that frightened Smith away when he re-emerged about an hour later.

Animal control officers responding to the call were able to hit Smith with a tranquilizer as he fled, police said, but to no apparent effect. His exact whereabouts were unknown as of press time, though authorities said given the lineman's surprising range, all wings, chicken, steak and barbeque establishments in the northwestern sector of the state and possibly northeast Mississippi should remain vigilant.

"Anyone encountering Andre Smith should freeze and begin slowly backing away in a non-threatening manner," said Doyle Moon of the Alabama Wildlife Federation. "Please give him the widest berth possible. If he does attack, cover your head and protect your internal organs." Despite their obvious physical advantages and many opportunities, linemen Smith's size normally avoid contact with people. Even so, Moon said, they can be extremely dangerous. Aggressive behavior in tackles is favored by numerous selection variables. Unlike the smaller players such as linebackers, fully grown linemen are too large to escape danger by climbing trees, so they respond to perceived threats by standing their ground and sometimes lashing out -- or "firing out" -- at their attackers.

"We could be dealing with the most overpowering left tackle I've ever encountered," Moon said. "And I helped subdue Chris Samuels."

_________________
<img src='http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii202/beachfinder/March1.jpg' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii202/beachfinder/March1.jpg','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size.

While it may be true that it's not if you win or lose, but how you play the game, I prefer to win.
Mom...at least you knew how to correct it, i live with mine and there are a lot of them. Great question, Judas wasn't a real good guy from the get go. He had a lot of greed issues, but you would think walking with Jesus and the other disciples he would have learnt something. Maybe he knew that he was done for and ended his life without having the guts to face the others.

You are doing a great job with your replies/questions. Keep it up and maybe some others will join us. I was there. During the game every time UK would score their fans would yell/scream/look at me. I was the only Crimson in the area. After we won some lady came running from way up the bleachers and hugged me...She was a Bama Fan.

It was fun walking out of the stadium. I was by myself.
_________________
<img src='http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/crimsnkentucky/ALLarry.png' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a127/crimsnkentucky/ALLarry.png','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size. Subject: Re: Member Opinion Position #2 RB
Posted: Wed Jul 02, 2008 3:25 pm (GMT -5)

Terry Grant is a good back but he still has a lot to prove. His first two games were incredible, but they were against Vandy and Western Carolina. After that his production started to drop off. In the Arkansas and Georgia games, I seem to remember him getting stopped for short gains a lot but breaking a couple of big ones which made his stats impressive. After that he continued to decline, but I hope that it can all be attributed to his injury, not the improved competition.

In my opinion, Grant is a good 3rd down back, but last year when he had to carry the load it just seemed as though he went down too easily at times where it cost us bad. When Glen Coffee filled in, I thought he did alright, but I don't think he is meant to be anything more than a solid backup in the SEC. He is a little too light at 197 to be an effective power back, and he is a little too slow to make up for it. Roy Upchurch has potential but he may very well end up wasting it.

I'm also not completely convinced that our O-line will be that much better this year. On paper, we should be, but we have been saying that for a couple of years now. I am confident in the abilities of 4 of our starters (Smith, Johnson, Caldwell, and M. Davis), and I have high hopes for Vlachos and Crump. However, if we don't find a capable RT, we will go through another year of poor pass blocking, which weakens the passing game, and in turn, impedes our ability to run the ball. Hopefully Tyler Love is all that he is cut out to be and will be ready for the season, but if he isn't, we will probably have to move Caldwell to LG, Johnson to RT, start Vlachos at C, and pray for the best. That combination would probably work out pretty well, but I would still prefer to have Johnson at G. Unfortunately, the coaching for the O-line is the only area where I do not have 100% confidence in our coaching staff.

While all of that sounds pretty pessimistic, I do believe that everything will work out well. I predict that we will see Grant getting 70-80% of the carries at the beginning of the season with Mark Ingram being the primary backup, and by the middle of the year, they will be splitting carries. I really like Ingram's size and his world class speed, and I also think that Matchett could work his way into playing time. I'm also convinced that Preyear is a very talented back who would have been rated 4 stars had the recruiting services and other coaches thought he had a chance to qualify. I also think that the O-line will be able to get it together and show considerable improvement from last year, but it's one of of those things that I just have to see to believe.
Subject: Re: Baptism....Does it save us?
Posted: Wed Jul 02, 2008 2:35 pm (GMT -5)

Of course, Satan believes--he is God's fallen angel. In John 6 Jesus talks about believing being "work". Specifically verse 47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

I Corinthians 15, Paul speaks about believing. This whole chapter is a good read, but I'll just type one verse--verse 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

I still think that baptism is simply an outward expression of an inward change.

In biblical days, baptism was a public profession of a changing of the spiritual person and their beliefs. It symbolizes death and resurrection -- Dying to the old self, and being resurrected as a new creation (Death and burial are symbolized by the act of immersion in the water, resurrection is symbolized by the coming up out of the water). More than this, it was commanded by God, as a public profession in the days when it could mean death to be baptized. There were severe consequences to Christions in those days--so being baptized was a huge risk that believers took, but did so knowing that Heaven was their reward. In addition to this, Christ himself, did this, in obedience to the father. To be a Christian means literally, to be "Christ-like". If we are to be like Christ, we are to do this, as he did.

If baptism were a requirement of salvation, the thief that defended Christ hanging on the cross could not have been saved and entered the kingdom of Heaven. But, what did Jesus say to him as they hung on the cross?

Luke 23:39-43 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!" But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."

He said "Today you will be with me in paradise". That means the thief would be in Heaven with him. He wasn't baptised, yet Jesus was allowing this thief into Heaven.

Of course, I know there are those who believe it is a requirement and can see where that belief comes from--Mark 16:16, Matthew 28, Acts 2:38, Acts 22(Paul's conversion), Mark 1:4 (John the Baptist).
_________________
<img src='http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/BamaMom.png' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/BamaMom.png','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size.
1standGoal @ Wed Jul 02, 2008 11:21 am wrote:

Grant is a solid running back, but I'm not ready to call him as good as Moreno. We've had this debate before, and it's arguable from both sides, but Moreno is a type of back that coaches drool over...big, strong, fast. Grant is more of a scat back....he's going to get the majority of his yards on the outside, and he'll struggle if you continue to pound him up the middle. I still think he's in the top 3 in the SEC though. And Grant can take it to the house with his speed if he gets into space.

Coffee is a capable backup that will give you constant production, although it's not going to be 150 yards a game. He's consistent, but not a game breaker.

Upchurch is the complete package, but thus far, he's lacked the intangibles -- being a team player, staying out of trouble, etc. I think he's the most talented back on the roster, but I'm skeptical as to whether we will ever really see him realize his potential. Upchurch could be an NFL back if he wanted to.

It will be interesting to see how the freshmen impact the roster. I think Ingram is emerging as the odds on favorite out of the freshmen to make a run up the depth chart. He's probably almost as fast as grant, and he's a natural runner.

So I think we will see something like this -- Grant will be the starter, and will get 15 carries per game. He'll get the misdirections and sweeps mostly, with a handoff up the middle every now and then to keep the defense honest. Coffee gets in as the 3rd down back early in the season, especially short yardage where his size will help him get that one yard. He'll give way to a bigger back later, in either Griffin or one of the freshmen. I think Grant has the potential to go over 1200 yards, but I don't think he'll get enough carries. It will be a running back by committee again this season, as Saban has traditionally used multiple backs to keep them fresh.

And I'll throw this wrench into the system as well. Watch out for Burton Scott. The kid can do it all, and he'll start out on offense. He'll primarily be used as a slot receiver, but don't be suprised to see #1 in the backfield every now and then. I can really see us using him like Florida uses Percy Harvin. He's a game breaker, and the staff will find ways to get the ball into his hands.

I think you've nailed it. If you go back and look at CNS past LSU teams you'll see RB by committe a lot of the time anyway. I think we will always see shared carries at the RB position under CNS.
_________________
<img src='http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/Signatures/Defense2-1.png' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/Signatures/Defense2-1.png','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size. Oops, I had to go back and edit that one!!! Wish I had been eating ice cream--it was more like "mommy brain", I was feeding a little one and typing at the same time!!!

I have a question--do you think Judas was so quick to act because he truly felt sorry for all the wrongs he had done--stealing money, betraying Jesus-- or do you think he was trying to run away from what he had done? I have no doubt he felt bad for what he did, I just wonder if it was true remorse and sorrow for what he had done to others or sorrow for himself for having been caught.
_________________
<img src='http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/BamaMom.png' onload="javascript:if(this.width > screen.width-200)this.width = (screen.width-200)" onclick="javascript:window.open('http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z74/RCTgallery/BamaMom.png','','scrollbars=1,toolbar=0,resizable=1,menubar=0,directories=0,status=0')" alt="Posted image may have been reduced in size. Look at the icons at the top of the prillian page. Third from the right is preferences.
Click no to all four questions. That should disabale prillian and keep it from poping up. Mine was disabled. I enabled it. Then disabled it.
